Forex is all about risk analysis and probability. There is no single method or style that will generate profits all the time. The key to success is positioning ourselves in such a way that the losses are harmless, while the profits are multiplied. Such a positioning is only possible by managing our risk allocations in accordance with an understanding of probability and risk management.

In response to: International Credit Card Processing with Instabill

Hi Alex,

We have written about Bitcoins in the past and, if I remember correctly, I have heard some of the account managers discuss Bitcoin solutions once or twice. However, I do not think we provide payouts in Bitcoins.

To be certain, I have forwarded your question to one of our merchant account managers, so someone should be in touch with you soon.

I am curious, though . . . From my understanding, Bitcoins are not very popular yet. What is your reason for choosing this form of currency for payouts? I find it very interesting and would love to know more about it.

Regards,
Meghan

FX or Forex describes the Foreign Exchange Market, a marketplace where the world's various currencies are traded. It is an interbank market which was created in 1971 when international trade transitioned from fixed to floating exchange rates. Its huge volume and fluidity made the Forex market the largest and most significant financial market in the world, with well over $4 trillion traded daily.

Phil,

You are right. It is not the card issuing banks' responsibility to tell a cardholder where he or she can spend money. However, if an acquiring bank decides it does not want to process credit cards for a specific industry, then the bank has the right to make that decision. The acquiring bank does not want to upset the credit card network so it can continue to process Visa transactions or MasterCard transactions.

Additionally, there are also certain transaction types that card issuing banks and acquiring banks are not allowed to process. For instance transaction types 7995 for online betting and casinos are still banned in most US states.

It is a tricky subject.

It's not for a bank to start telling you where you can and can't spend your money. If you wish to take a risk with your own money that's up to you....not them!
If they really wish to go down this route they should stop people stocks and share...in case they go down in price and you make a loss.

In response to: Do Adult Toys Fall into the High Risk Category?

There are many additional reason why an adult toy business would fall into the high risk category. However, these business features are not necessarily related to the industry.

An adult toy business could be considered high risk if it is incorporated in a high risk country, such as Russia or Eastern Europe. The business could also be considered high risk if it processes more than $100,000 per month or has an average ticket size of more than $100. Hosting your own payments page also lands you in the high risk category.

However, you can easily reduce these risks by opening multiple merchant accounts to spread out your monthly processing volume, offer more inexpensive items on your website, or have Instabill host your payments page for you.

I hope this has helped!

In response to: How to Avoid an Online Business Failure

Hi Leanne,

Thank you for your question. I will do my best to answer it for you. First, if the error page tells you to contact the merchant, then I suggest you contact the merchant.

While there is always reason to worry when it comes to providing online credit card information, just keep an eye on your billing statement for suspicious activity. If you see no fraudulent charges, then it should not be an issue.

However, when entering personal information on a website, always look for the SSL details: a padlock indicating the site is protected with a Secure Socket Layer certificate (this means the website encrypts your information in a secured message--it looks like a jumble until it reaches its destination) and the URL beginning with HTTPS as opposed to the usual HTTP.

You also have the option of purchasing a pre-paid credit card. This will allow you to add a certain amount of money onto your credit card. In the instance of a fraudster stealing your information, it will not ruin your credit score--only steal the money pre-loaded onto the card, which is a much better option than being out thousands of dollars.

I hope this has helped. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you, Leanne.

Regards,
Meghan

Raj [Visitor]
Hi..

The Article sounds interesting on chargebacks..

I have a Query on Refunding Policy.

Suppose a list of products (say there are 100 parker pens ) are marked for Auction in Ecommerce industry and Consumers who opt to purchase their product are required to Quote their prices and completing the payment from their corresponding Account.

Consider if the are 1000 requests from the consumers and since only 100 products can be serviced, the remaining consumers should be refunded back and hence this can result in a big drawback in terms of extra charges required for the reverse transfer back to consumer account.

What can be the best solution to avoid these issues and processing the reverse transaction smoothly from the Ecommerce Perspective point of View?

Please give your valuable suggestions on this..

Thanks,

In response to: Verified by Visa--An In-Depth Overview

Robert hall [Visitor]
Three years ago I had a "Verified By Visa" experience that I would hate anyone else to experience. Just short of €1000 was removed from my Visa account ...to pay for frozen prawns in Mauritius.
I complained that it wasn't me but was shown no sympathy. "It's verified by visa" I was told "It has to be you". I had never signed up to this "secure" service and had to involve my solicitor before my complaint was taken seriously.
We finally managed to convince the bank I was a victim of fraud that should have been prevented and, after some time, my account was re-credited.
Disappointingly, no apology was forthcoming but, out of the blue, I got a telephone call from a lady who worked for Visa. "You may be interested to hear" she said "the person who took money from your account was unable to complete the security questions. We allow it once"
Some "security". I was eventually forced into 'joining up' but, not surprisingly, I am still unwilling to make any online purchase that limits itself to Verified By Visa.

In response to: MasterCard Chargebacks Becoming More Merchant Friendly

Hi Sarah,

As an acquirer, the only way you can protect your merchant is to make sure you encourage him or her to follow proper protocol for card-present transactions.

Cashiers should always compare the cardholder's signature on the receipt to the signature on the back of card. If the signature does not match, then the cashier can refuse to hand over the goods.

However, if there is no signature on the back of the card, the cashier should ask to see a photo ID. If the cardholder does not have a photo ID, the signature on the photo ID does not match the signature on receipt, or the name on the photo ID does not match the name on the credit card, then then cashier can also refuse to hand over the goods.

Whether the cashier hands over the goods is his or her decision and must consider if it will result in a fraudulent chargeback.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to ask any more questions you may have.

Regards,
Meghan
